Newcastle United footballer Kieron Dyer has been arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure.

The allegation centres on the player's stay at the Swallow Nelson Hotel in Norwich, Norfolk, in April this year.

It follows a complaint from a female member of staff. The player, 27, has been released on bail while Norfolk Police inquiries continue.

He moved to Newcastle from Ipswich for �6m in 1999 and has made a total of 28 international appearances.

In a statement, Norfolk Police said: "A 27-year-old man was arrested yesterday (24 May) morning on suspicion of indecent exposure. He was released on police bail pending further enquiries.

"The arrest relates to an incident at a premises in Prince of Wales Road in Norwich on 30 April."
