Council bosses have stepped in to ensure that vital public transport between Darlington and an outlying village will be maintained. From Monday, a council-funded service will run on weekdays every two hours between the town centre and Sadberge.
This replaces the former Arriva 98 service, which is being withdrawn by the company as part of a major revision of services in the area.
Timetables are being sent out to homes in the area.
The new service will complement the existing council-funded 97 service, which will continue to operate from Stillington and Bishopton, via Sadberge and Yarm Road, to Darlington town centre, Heighington and Royal Oak.
