 Govia is taking over from South Eastern Trains |
The Kent Green Party has listed a raft of measures which it says would improve rail services in the South East. The Greens have written a letter to Govia, the company which won an eight-year franchise to run trains across Kent and East Sussex from April.
Their suggestions include reducing train overcrowding and extending smoking bans from trains onto all railways property across the network.
Govia - a consortium of Go-Ahead Group and Keolis - also runs Southern trains.
It was awarded the Integrated Kent Rail Franchise at the end of November 2005.
The network covers routes connecting Kent and East Sussex with London, as well as domestic Channel Tunnel Rail Link services.
The Kent Green Party thinks thorough on-train and barrier ticket checks will ensure Govia's revenue.
It also wants more money spent on station access and cycle racks.
Govia has promised to invest �76m in passenger and staff facilities, and to build two new depots in Ashford and Ramsgate.
