Coastguards in overnight rescues
Coastguards in Devon and Cornwall co-ordinated the rescue of a yacht crew and the airlifting of an injured man on Sunday morning.

The crew of a yacht was rescued by a Cornwall lifeboat after the skipper became ill.

Brixham coastguards in Devon assisted in the rescue after the captain of the Sahuta fell ill off Fowey at 0500 BST.

At the same time, Falmouth coastguards co-ordinated the airlift of an injured man from beside the River Helford.

The illness of the captain of the Sahuta left his crew unable to sail the vessel. The Fowey lifeboat was able to bring the crew ashore.

The man airlifted from the banks of the River Helford was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Truro to receive medical attention.
