Almost 200 children from hospices in the South East are being given the chance to experience the thrill of flying on a special day trip. They are taking off from Gatwick for Shannon Airport, flying along the Irish coast and visiting Bunratty Castle.
About 50 children and carers from Chestnut Tree House in Worthing, East Sussex are celebrating the first anniversary of the �5m hospice.
Children from hospices in Kent and Hampshire are also taking part.
The youngsters, from Demelza House, Sittingbourne, and Naomi House, Winchester are being joined by children from the Worthing area who have helped raise funds for the Chestnut Tree.
Monday's flight, operated by Thomas Cook airlines, will take about an hour and children will have the chance to visit the flight deck.
They will have lunch at Bunratty and a chance to explore the castle and folk park.
