 Operator One says passengers get value for money |
Rail travellers are to be quizzed on their reactions to a 4% fare increase which came into force on 1 January. Operator One says the rise is in line with companies across the country and passengers already get value for money.
The East of England Rail Passengers' Committee is going out in the New Year to find out what people think of the new prices and existing train services.
Passengers' spokesman Paul Dickson said: "If people aren't happy it gives them a chance to speak up."
One operates train services in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex.
Spokesman Jonathan Denby said: "A modernisation programme on the mainline will be completed by 2006.
Investing in stations
"Passengers can look forward to modern carriages, better standards of accommodation and also additional services.
"We are also investing in stations and this will benefit passengers."
Mr Dickson said: "We're happy with inflation rises but until the improvements are complete that should be it.
"Our survey is going to be a good opportunity feedback from rail passengers on the timetable, fare increases and other experiences of travel in the east.
"This will allow us to put together a good document on passengers' attitudes to services."
