Most people have already made their journeys, the RAC says |
Wet and windy weather across the South East has led to warnings to drivers to check their cars before setting out. The RAC has said most people have made their pre-Christmas journeys, but a last-minute rush was expected on Friday as businesses closed at lunchtime.
Spokesman Rebecca Bell urged motorists to plan their routes carefully and check cars before setting out.
She also advised people to pack warm clothes, with food and drink, in case of any problems.
'Wet and windy'
"This morning, there are no major traffic problems," she told BBC Radio Kent.
"It looks as if it will be fairly wet and windy, which is not great for driving.
"Very few people change plans because of the weather conditions, which is understandable.
"People should listen to local traffic reports and check their cars before setting off, including petrol, water, oil levels and tyre pressure.
"And it is wise to pack warm clothes and food and drink, to make sure you've got a few bits and pieces in the car if you have to stop."
