A design has been chosen to commemorate the life of Northampton-born scientist Francis Crick. The Cambridge scientist, who died in July 2004 aged 88, identified the shape of DNA with Dr James Watson in 1953.
A panel, which included members of the Crick family, selected the winning design from a choice of three artists, after a public consultation.
The design was created by Lucy Glendinning from Somerset and features two figures in a twisted archway.
Northampton Borough Council leader Phil Larratt said: "All of the artists designs were excellent and it was a very difficult choice.

"Lucy's work is aesthetically very attractive and we all agreed would sit very well at the top of Abington Street.
"She was the public's favourite choice and we look forward to working with her on the installation of the sculpture."
Professor Crick, who was brought up in Weston Favell, won the Nobel Prize for his work on the structure of DNA.
The design, which will be displayed on Abington Street, is being funded by The Wilson Foundation and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
