Eleven fans were arrested after clashing with police during Chelsea's 1-0 win over West Ham at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night. Police in riot gear were confronted by visiting supporters in a corner section of the ground 10 minutes after the Carling Cup tie ended. Scotland Yard confirmed the arrests for alleged public order, drugs and offensive weapon offences.
During the match goalscorer Mateja Kezman was hit by a missile.
It took police 15 minutes to restore order and a child was being treated for injuries relating to a crush.
Kezman refused to talk in detail about the incident afterwards and had a small cut just on the eyebrow above his left eye.
He said: "It was just a small accident, I'm not sure what happened. I am fine."
Violent scenes also marred Liverpool's 3-0 Carling Cup win over Millwall on Tuesday.
