The new franchise has been brand-named One |
Rail passengers across East Anglia face a rise in fares from Sunday. New operator One, which began running the region's new train franchise in April, is changing its fares structure with the start of a new timetable.
The changes to the fares reflect the merging of three rail companies - Anglia, First Great Eastern and West Anglia.
One, run by National Express, admits that some fares are going up, but says in some cases prices are falling.
Passenger watchdog
The company said it was trying to manage the changes as fairly as possible.
Spokesman Peter Meades said any price rises were modest ones.
However, the Rail Passengers Committee Eastern Region, the region's passenger watchdog, said some rises were simply too steep.
One provides services from Liverpool Street to Hertford, Cambridge, Peterborough, all Essex and to Norwich and east coast resorts.
In April the operator dropped the "One" branding in station announcements because passengers associate numbers with train times.
