The idea was on the agenda for a meeting between five authorities on Thursday afternoon.

They were to discuss establishing a regional management board.

If approved, the board would cover Leicestershire and Rutland, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire.

The authority would work towards savings in areas such as procurement of equipment, training and finance.

But the most crucial issue would most likely be the idea of setting up a regional control room.

It is not yet known where such a control room would be located and whether there would be job losses.
