'Drink death' pupil inquest opens
King's College School
Nicholas was a pupil at King's College School
A inquest has been opened into the death of a sixth former who died apparently after drinking alcohol during a trip to Germany.

Nicholas Ireland, 17, of Weybridge, Surrey, was staying at a hostel in Hamburg during a school physics trip.

The pupil at King's College School, Wimbledon, London, was already dead when an ambulance arrived.

No date has been set for a full hearing, but the coroner has released Nicholas's body to the family.

No details of funeral arrangements have been released.

Paramedics were unable to resuscitate the teenager when they arrived at the youth hostel on 8 April.

At the brief hearing on Wednesday at Woking Coroners' Court, Surrey, coroner Michael Burgess opened and adjourned the inquest.
