Ann Widdecombe said her cats and 92-year-old mother were frightened |
MP Ann Widdecombe said she had a firework let off through her letterbox by Halloween "trick or treaters". The Conservative MP and her elderly mother were in their central London house when the incident happened.
Nobody was hurt but Miss Widdecombe, MP for the Kent constituency of Maidstone and the Weald, said she was angry.
She said it was wrong for such acts to be carried out under the guise of having fun.
'Pure childish fun'
Miss Widdecombe told the BBC: "I had a banger put though my letter box and not only did the cats run a mile but my 92-year-old mother was extremely frightened by it.
"That was on Halloween and it was after I'd given them a treat as well.
"There's now an insipient violence and nasty edge coming into what should have been just pure childish fun which none of us could object to."
