We have ended our vote to find the seven wonders of the East Midlands. Lincoln Cathedral topped the poll, closely followed by the Peak District and Sherwood Forest.
But we still want to hear what you think.
Are these the seven most wonderful places in the region, or is something missing?

Hey! What about the Broadmarsh centre in Nottingham? Its as least as interesting as Lincoln Cathedral after 10 pints of Old Codger in Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem.

Of course there's something missing. No mention of Mr Darcy and Pemberley. Pride and Prejudice is the best advert for Derbyshire that they'll ever have.

I am surprised that the beauty of Charnwood in Leics didn't make your list. Not just Bradgate Park but the excellent walking to be found in the area.

As an Australian that lived in the East Midlands for a couple of years I feel this is a fairly good representation of what the East Midlands have to offer. I would have put no 2 the Peak District as a whole and no 4 Chatsworth House as 1 and 2, but in my time in the UK I visited all the sites on the list. What the East Midlands does not do well is market itself. Most Australians would not even know that there is an East and West Midlands and think that the whole of the Midlands is covered with streets resembling Coronation Street. It comes as quite a suprise to them to be told that large parks exist in the area.

Strange isn't it that 3 of the 7 wonders of the East Midlands are in North Derbyshire, which does not have proper coverage by an East Midlands TV or radio station, especially Chesterfield. !!!
John Wragg,
Yes I can say wonderful Cathedral of Lincoln. Last May I travelled to Lincoln with my friend there. Imposing and wonderful. The people of East Midlands can be proud of such 'wonder' there.

My husband and his crew in a Lancaster, stationed at Kelstern, were always pleased to see Lincoln Cathedral when returning from a mission as they knew then that they were nearly home safe and sound.
