Police recover stolen ambulances
Three people arrested in connection with the theft of three ambulances have been released on bail.

The vehicles were taken from a depot in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham at about 1000 BST on Saturday.

They were recovered following a joint police operation involving Durham and Northumbria Police forces within a couple of hours of them being reported missing.

Two ambulances were recovered near the Redheugh Bridge, which links Gateshead and Newcastle.

The other was found just south of Birtley services off the A1.

Three people were arrested and questioned at Newton Aycliffe police station before being released, pending further inquiries.
