Dambusters in TV documentary

A Somerset man will be featured in a television documentary about the historic dambusters raid.

It is almost 60 years since 19 Lancaster bombers took to the skies on what has become one of the most celebrated bombing sorties.

The documentary puts RAF Sergeant Ben Knight from Bridgwater and five of his colleagues through the same training given to the original flight crews.

He said the experience had given him a huge respect for the old bomber crews.

RAF pilots from the historic squadron recently came under enemy fire during a top-secret mission to attack key bases within Iraq.

Tornado GR4 crews from 617 Squadron, based at Ali Al Salem in northern Kuwait, were taking part in what Wing Commander Dave Robertson called "an historic mission" on the 60th anniversary of the squadron's formation.
