Fellow jurors claimed "things were jumping" on the man |
A jury member in Liverpool has been discharged from a rape trial after fellow jurors claimed he had fleas in his beard. The man was attending the trial at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday when complaints were made about him.
His fellow jury members refused to continue sitting with him and the judge later discharged him for "personal reasons".
The man has a long beard, and jurors claimed they had "seen things jumping" on him.
The judge told the man a letter would be sent to him, outlining the reasons why his services were no longer required.
The trial began on Tuesday afternoon, and the judge acted before it resumed on Wednesday morning, sitting with a jury of five men and six women.
