Dreamland fun park in Margate is to open for one last season before it is closed for good. The tourist attraction, which is at the centre of a campaign to save it, is due to shut in September after it was sold.
The previous owner Jim Godden said the park, which opened 84 years ago, was too big for Margate.
It is planned to use the site for a retail and leisure complex.
But members of Thanet District Council are concerned that tourists may not come to the town if the amusement park is not open.
Great asset
Now David Wallis has leased the park for the coming season meaning the doors will be open from 12 April.
Mr Wallis said he was trying to bring back a big wheel and a couple of other rides to Dreamland for the summer.
But it has not been decided if the historic wooden rollercoaster, the Scenic Railway, which was given listed status in 1991, will be open to the public.
Mr Wallis said: "We were in negotiations with Mr Godden and we convinced him to reopen it.
"I think there is still potential in Margate for this leisure industry.
"Dreamland has been a great asset to Margate for may years."
