Yellow card for train rowdiness
Derek Wyatt MP
The problem is on trains between Sheerness and Sittingbourne
A Kent MP is calling for football-style red and yellow cards to be brought in to control unruly schoolchildren on trains.

Derek Wyatt, MP for Sittingbourne and Sheppey, said he has received complaints about the way some youngsters behave on their way home from school.

Problems such as noise and unruly behaviour have been reported.

And Mr Wyatt said it is older people who often feel threatened by the schoolchildren.

The route between Sittingbourne and Sheerness has been singled out as particularly bad.

Mr Wyatt has said schools, parents and rail firm Connex should sign a charter to help stamp out the problem.

He has put forward the red and yellow card idea to the Passenger Consultation Committee for Kent.

"If they did have bad behaviour they would have a yellow card and then if they behaved badly again they would not be allowed on the train," he said.
