Community officers are expected to support regular police |
Lincolnshire Police say new Community Support Officers (PSCO) are helping to make the county's streets safer. Eleven PCSOs began working in the Boston, Spalding, Stamford and Sleaford areas last January.
They are employed by Lincolnshire Police to deal with public disorder and anti-social behaviour.
They do not have the same powers of arrest as regular police officers but they are still being welcomed as a great asset to the force.
Inspector George Mold, of Sleaford Police Station, said: "Since being introduced they have integrated very well.
"They are being employed to fill a specific role which is to provide high visibility patrols and reassure the community.
"This is what they are doing very well."
