 The Queen is to visit Plymouth next week |
The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh will be visiting Plymouth - home of 3 Commando Brigade, which lost eight personnel when their American helicopter crashed in the Kuwaiti desert. They are due to visit Devonport Naval Base on Monday.
The visit is one of several being made members of the Royal Family in support of those serving in the Gulf and their families.
Plymouth is the home base of the helicopter carrier HMS Ocean, the largest warship in the Royal Navy.
It is not known whether the visit will now include 3 Commando Brigade's base at Stonehouse Barracks in the city.

The city is also the base to the one Trafalgar-class hunter-killer submarine that is believed to be in the Gulf and 42 Commando at Bickleigh. On Thursday, the Queen sent a message to British troops about to go into combat in Iraq.
In it she said: "May your mission be swift and decisive, your courage steady and true, and your conduct in the highest traditions of your service both in waging war and bringing peace.
"My thoughts are with you all, and with your families and friends who wait at home for news and pray for your safe return.
"I have every confidence in your professionalism and commitment as you face the challenges before you."
The Prince of Wales and the Duke of York are also scheduled to visit the families of serving troops at military bases.
