Schoolchildren arrested in war protest
Anti-war demonstrators
Young and old took part in the protests
Police have arrested two schoolchildren involved in anti-war demonstrations in Sheffield.

The teenagers were among approximately 200 students protesting on Western Bank.

The pair were arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage and have been questioned by officers.

Elsewhere in the city up to 1,000 protestors marched through Sheffield on Thursday afternoon.

Angry motorists

After gathering for a rally at the Peace Gardens they carried their protest through the city centre streets bringing traffic to a halt around Park Square.

Angela Harrison of the Sheffield Stop the War Coalition said: "We're here for the same reason everyone else is and hope that our voice will be heard throughout the UK."

But some local motorists were angered by the disruption to their working day.

"Some of us have got jobs to do," one said.

"We can't all just stand about like this. It's not going to stop the war, nothing is."

Another passer-by added: "They have the right to protest but it's a bit annoying when you are trying to get somewhere."
