Man bailed over jogger murder
Margaret Muller
Margaret Muller was killed while out running
A man arrested by police investigating the murder of American artist Margaret Muller has been released on bail.

The 46-year-old man from Whitechapel, east London, was arrested by officers from the Serious Crime Directorate at 0730 GMT on Tuesday.

He was questioned in connection with the death of 27-year-old Miss Muller, who was stabbed while out jogging in Victoria Park, Tower Hamlets on 3 February.

Police have confirmed he has been bailed to return to an east London police station on 29 April.

He was the second person arrested in connection with the death of Miss Muller.

An 18-year-old man was arrested at his home in Hackney, east London earlier in the month and was released on bail to return in April.

Miss Muller is thought to have been the victim of a random attacker.

Police investigating the case held London's largest crime reconstruction on 3 March, a month to the day of the murder.

Some 93 people returned to the scene to retrace their steps while 100 officers and 100 support staff helped map their positions.

Miss Muller moved to London from the US in 1998 and studied and worked at the Slade School of Fine Art.

She supplemented her income by painting and had a studio in the converted factory in Hackney in which she lived.
