Sister's appeal over fatal shooting
Pauline Peart
Pauline Peart died of a single gunshot wound
The sister of a "much-loved" Essex woman shot dead at the wheel of her car has appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Pauline Peart, 25, from Waltham Abbey, was shot as she sat chatting to a male friend in her car in Tottenham, north London, last Monday.

Police have now released CCTV footage of three people seen near the shooting in Hampden Road.

On Monday, Ms Peart's half-sister Donna Swaby described her as "fun, happy-go-lucky, very much loved and liked by everyone that met her."

Unknown motive

She said her sister had had "everything to live for, her whole life ahead of her", and asked: "Why would someone want to take her away?"

Detectives still do not know the motive for the killing of Ms Peart, a tele-marketing worker with the HFC bank.

She was in her car at about 2300 GMT when three men first walked past, then turned around and came back.

The gunman tried to open the driver's door, then put the barrel of a handgun through the open window, and fired once.

Ms Peart was hit in the back, and the bullet passed into her heart.

Her friend - who police said had a "platonic relationship" with Ms Peart - drove her to a nearby house, where she died 30 minutes later.

Carjacking gone wrong

Detective Chief Inspector Julian Headon, who is leading the inquiry, said there was nothing in Ms Peart's lifestyle to explain her murder.

He suggested it could well be a "spur of the moment carjacking gone wrong".

"It does appear to be a random thing.

"There is no evidence at this stage to suggest gangland or drugs connection."

He added that if the two men accompanying the gunmen came forward, he would "gladly listen".
