New name for concert hall
Rolling Stones
The Rolling Stones performed at the old Drill Hall
People living in Lincoln are being asked to help give a new name to the city's revamped concert venue.

The Drill Hall, on Broadgate, is being refurbished to turn it into a modern performing arts venue.

The hall, which in the 1940s hosted jazz concerts and later saw the Rolling Stones perform there, closed in 1999 because of faulty electrics.

Now trustees of the Drill Hall wants a new name for the venue when it is re-opened.

Built in 1890, it was named the Drill Hall after as it was used as a training and exercise base for police and military drill.

About 1.5m is being spent on the refurbishment which will allow seating for 350 people and standing space for 650 people.

Events at the re-modelled venue will include theatre, dance and music performances, festivals, films, conferences, seminars and lectures.

A new entrance off Free School Lane will make access easier.
