The plans will see a tunnel built near the prehistoric site

An exhibition detailing the multi-million pound scheme to create a visitor centre and transform road access to the world heritage site go on the road on Monday.

The mobile display will call in at a number of villages around the county during its 12-day tour.

The large walk-in trailer contains models and display boards showing exactly what the redevelopment of the historic monument will mean.

Questions answered

It will visit Amesbury, Tilshead, Larkhill, Shrewton and Middle Woodford.

Staff from the National Trust and English Heritage will be on board to talk to members of the public.

They will be able to answer questions on the proposed visitor centre and the future of Stonehenge, keeping local people up-to-date with the project.

The tour begins at Stonehenge itself on 17 March, and is due to end in Salisbury on 28 March.
