The former Corporation Hotel has been turned into a hostel |
The first permanent hostel for the homeless in Loughborough is being opened. The 12-bed building is on the site of the former Corporation Hotel in Wharncliffe Road.
The idea for a new hostel in the Leicestershire town followed overwhelming demand for Loughborough's temporary Christmas Shelter.
Homeless charity, Lifelines for the Homeless, received a large anonymous donation of money which enabled it to buy the disused hotel.
It has now been converted into a hostel and opens on Monday and will start receiving clients on Wednesday.
Organisers say homeless people will be welcome to stay up to a year while they find a permanent home.
