The centre will be on the southern shore of Grimwith Reservoir
Plans for a new sailing centre in the Yorkshire Dales have been approved by the national park authority's planning committee.

It will provide new facilities for Grimwith Sailing Club at its site at Grimwith Reservoir off the Grassington to Pateley Bridge road.

The development on the southern shore of the reservoir will include a new clubhouse, landing ramps and pontoons as well as additional car and boat parking space.

Approval for the application follows a number of meetings between the sailing club and planning officers to ensure the wildlife in the area is not endangered.

Peter Watson, head of planning at the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority said: "We are delighted to give the go-ahead for this new range of facilities for residents and visitors alike."

Grimwith Sailing Club has over 150 members.
