Sir Stanley was born at the house in 1915

Ceramics firm Wedgwood is teaming up with BBC Radio Stoke to pay for the sign, which will be fixed to the wall of 89 Seymour Street, Hanley.

Sir Stanley, who played 54 times for England, was born at the house in 1915.

The terraced home was bought by a businessman at auction for �45,000 earlier this year.

Bob Ahmed has offered 89 Seymour Street for use as a museum, although there has so far been no interest in the idea.

Sir Stanley was one of the most famous footballers of his generation and in 1964 became the first player to be knighted. He died in 2000.
