Drug users to get special fostering
teenager drinker
The teenagers have drug or alcohol problems
Social services are looking for foster carers in Lincolnshire to look after young people who have problems with drug abuse.

The specialist fostering service will try to help the young drug-takers to kick their habit and live a more normal life.

The scheme is part of what officials are calling Placement Plus - an attempt to offer specialist fostering for young people who need emergency care and treatment.

Martin Belton of Lincolnshire Social Services said: "These teenagers have problems with drugs or alcohol and need urgent help.

Challenging behaviour

"We are looking for people who are resilient, have good support networks and able to deal with young people with very challenging behaviour."

The placements will be for a maximum of 13 weeks.

The programme is a partnership between Lincolnshire County Council and the Lincolnshire Drug Action Team.

The organisers want foster carers who are based at home and have spare bedrooms and no children under 16 of their own at home.

Carers would be paid an allowance for their work.
