Residents angry over bin collections
Proposed changes to weekly rubbish collections in Nuneaton and Bedworth have been met with anger from local residents.

The borough council is planning to cut back household waste collections to once a fortnight, and to introduce a garden waste collection in the weeks inbetween to encourage recycling.

But people living in the area are concerned that having their rubbish lying around for two weeks during the summer will not be hygenic.

Mish Whitmore, who has organised a campaign group called Wheelie Smart, said the group was not against recycling, but would like to see the new scheme amended.

The borough council said the move was a necessary measure under new government recyling legislation and people must try to recycle more of their waste.

Mrs Whitmore, of Abbey Green, Nuneaton, said residents wanted both bins to be emptied each week, rather than what is proposed for the new scheme which starts next month.
