Mrs Whitehead was last seen 14 months ago |
The disappearance of a woman from Yorkshire who went missing in Holland is the subject of a BBC investigation. Wendy Whitehead, who was born in Hull, but lived in Leeds, was last seen on Boxing Day 2001 in the Dutch town of Hilversum where she lived with her boyfriend.
She left most of her possessions behind, apart from her passport, and her bank account has been untouched.
Mrs Whitehead, 46, had argued with her boyfriend and was only reported missing four months later, after her family became worried.
The question of what has happened to her in the 14 months since she was last seen was explored by the BBC's Inside Out team.
Her father, John Allison, raised the alarm from his Hull home after he didn't get a Father's Day card.
He said: "I think she has been abducted because she hasn't been in touch."
A police inquiry is under way in Holland but without a body and no confirmed sighting, it is being treated as a missing person investigation.
Detective Inspector Steve Robinson, of Humberside Police, said: "At the back of your mind you've got to consider the worst has happened, considering the amount of devotion she had to her family and her father."
