Boxing gloves
The centre will have boxing facilities
A new leisure centre is planned for Stoke-on-Trent thanks to a lottery grant of almost 1m.

The centre will be built in Abbots Road in Abbey Hulton, using money awarded by Sport England.

It will include mini football pitches, boxing facilities and changing rooms.

Stoke-on-Trent's elected mayor Mike Wolfe said it was good news for the city.

"This centre will make a major contribution to the area's wider regeneration."

Sport England regional director John Roberts said they support projects that benefit the whole community.

A spokesman from Stoke-on-Trent City Council said the centre would serve people in Abbey Hulton, Brookhouse and Hanley Green - areas identified as high priority by Sport England.
