Work begins on 'noisy' road
Pothole
Potholes create added problems for drivers
A road is being resurfaced in south Cheshire at a cost of 70,000 after residents complained cars driving over potholes were keeping them awake.

Residents living on the A533 Middlewich Road, in Sandbach, claim the noise is unbearable and many of them are losing sleep.

Contractors began work on the stretch of road between Saint Peter's Rise and Hill Street on Wednesday.

Resident Renee Bickerton told BBC Radio Stoke the noise was making her life a misery.

Expect delays

"We realise that heavy transport vehicles were making the problem far worse than it should be.

"You just have to wait for these jobs to be done, there's nothing we could do, you just have to accept it really so we are thankful that it's going to be done."

The work is expected to take five days.

Motorists are being told to expect delays during peak times, and queues of traffic are likely to build up around Elworth Primary School.
