Six hurt in motorway pile-up
M1 crash
The crash brought the motorway to a standstill
Six people were taken to hospital on Wednesday after a nine-vehicle accident on the M1 during the rush-hour.

The crash closed the motorway for several hours.

All the injured were taken to Milton Keynes General Hospital.

One of the six, a man, is thought to have spinal injuries.

The crash happened between the Newport Pagnell Service area and Junction 14 on the southbound carriageway.

The crash, which included a lorry, blocked all three lanes of the southbound carriageway.

Northamptonshire Police closed Junction 15 of the motorway north of the crash.

Traffic was being diverted on to the A508 and motorists warned to avoid the area if possible.

Thames Valley Police also closed the M1 northbound carriage at Junction 14 to allow the emergency services to reach the scene.
