Woman dies after mountain fall

The climber who died after falling on a Scottish mountain has been named by police.

Valerie Mackenzie Hartley, 58, from Pulham Market in Norfolk died in Raigmore Hospital in Inverness on Sunday.

She had been in a party of seven people climbing Ben Eighe, near Kinlochewe in Ross and Cromarty, when the accident happened.

A mountain rescue team and an RAF helicopter were called at 1440 GMT on Sunday after she fell about 700 feet.

She was airlifted to hospital but died from what police described as "serious injuries".
