Taxi drivers' blacklist call
Taxi drivers are calling for a blacklist to name-and-shame violent or dishonest passsengers.

Drivers in Melksham say they have been subjected to late-night assaults recently and say a blacklist may help stamp out the problem.

Father-of-two Stephen Paul, 39, of Melksham Taxis, was attacked in his cab by a drunken customer in a late-night assault.

Nicky Lyons, 20, admitted attacking Mr Paul, leaving him with a bruised face and a battered pair of glasses.

The 20-year-old narrowly escaped a prison sentence in November when he was sentenced for a kung fu-style assault.

Mr Paul, who lives with his wife and two young children said if a blacklist were initiated it could have pointed up Lyons as a potential threat.

He said: "We should blacklist people through publishing addresses or photos to keep taxi drivers safer."
