Hospital reopens to patients
Wells Cottage Hospital
Hospital staff are offered low-cost housing to rent
A cottage hospital in Norfolk has re-opened two months after a staff shortage forced it to close temporarily.

The 12-bed hospital at Wells-next-the-Sea shut just before Christmas when three full-time nurses were off sick.

Staff were found work elsewhere in the region during the closure.

North Norfolk Primary Care Trust said that part of its problem in recruiting new nurses was the lack of affordable housing in the area.

However, the nearby Holkham estate has now offered to rent out low-cost homes to nurses.

Building work was also carried out while the hospital was closed.
