Pigeons have been branded a potential risk for pedestrians in Hereford. The birds are roosting under the Belmont Footbridge and there are fears the mess they leave on the pavement could cause someone to slip and fall into the busy Abergavenny Road.
Animal health officers at Herefordshire Council say the number of pigeons has grown so much in recent months, they are becoming a danger to pedestrians.
They are now considering putting up netting under the bridge.
The officers say it is an established method of keeping the birds away.
But they admit it may result in a similar problem arising somewhere else in the city.
