The scheme will run four weeks |
Chemists shops in North East Lincolnshire are giving out free condoms in a bid to cut down on unwanted teenage pregnancies. Sixteen pharmacies in Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Waltham are taking part in the scheme which will last for four weeks.
Young people will be able to identify the pharmacies involved by a special window sticker.
Sajni Gudka of the North East Lincolnshire Primary Care Trust said: "All the pharmacies involved have been trained to assess young people who access this new service to ensure they are aware of their actions.
"Community pharmacies are the most accessible of all health care settings as no appointment is necessary."
Mr Gudka says she will evaluate the scheme at the end of March and will be presenting a report to the North East Lincolnshire Teenage Pregnancy Partnership Board.
