Developer unhappy over homes delay
New Homes
Residents object to development of countryside
A construction firm is calling for the government to rule on its plan to build 110 homes in Leicestershire.

Taylor Woodrow claims the local council has taken too long to consider its application for the development on farmland between Loughborough and Hathern.

The company says it submitted an application several months ago and is still awaiting a decision from Charnwood Borough Council.

By law, the council should have made a decision within eight weeks but, having failed to do so, Taylor Woodrow is now demanding the government intervenes.

The council has indicated it would have refused planning permission.

It has been bombarded by petitions and letters from residents in both Loughborough and Hathern objecting to the new homes.

The matter is now expected to go to a public inquiry.
