Mr Butler spent time in a freezer to prepare for his Atlantic crossing |
A Swindon explorer planning a 400-mile sled to the North Pole has started his training. Norman Butler plans to pull two tyres - weighing 200 kg - around Wroughton airfield for 24 hours on Friday.
He has already rowed across the Atlantic and says he had never skied or been north of Leeds before starting his preparation for the Arctic trek.
Mr Butler will also be taking part in research into the treatment and prevention of diabetes, and certain types of cancer, during the expedition.
The trek to the Pole will start in April and is expected to last 30 days
