Lifeboat crews have rescued a man, who was stuck up to his waist in mud, from the River Crouch, near South Woodham Ferrers.

They were called to the mudflats, opposite the Brandy Hole Yacht Club, just before 1800 GMT on Thursday night.

Essex police officers and an RAF helicopter from Wattisham Airfield, Suffolk, were also called to assist in the rescue.
