Ambulance bosses bid to end dispute
Ambulances
Crews want a pay rise of 5%

Sussex Ambulance management are meeting on Thursday to discuss how to end a dispute which has seen staff working to rule.

Ambulance crews belonging to two different unions banned overtime last week.

The action among members of Unison and the Association of Professional Ambulance Personnel (APAP) affects more than 400 paramedics and technicians across Sussex.

The dispute began after unions called for a 5% pay rise, but were offered only 3.6% by management.

Talks aimed at settling the dispute have failed but union leaders and bosses are set to meet again next week.

A meeting of the Sussex Ambulance Service NHS Trust's board on Thursday will see them discuss the dispute on a day when the unions are set to step up industrial action.

Members are being urged to only work from their base station and not respond to calls from staging posts where they have previously waited on standby such as areas near known accident black-spots.

Crews are also being urged not to provide cover at sporting events.
