The inquiry lasts three days

The inquiry will look at developer Stewart Crooke's application to build 34 houses on Minety village school playing field.

Some local residents are opposed to the application, which was previously rejected by the local district council.

A spokesperson for Stewart Crooke said the development would bring more business to the village.

'David and Goliath'

He said: "The existing playing fields are very poor indeed."

The developers have added they would make better land available to replace the existing facilities.

But the Friends of Minety action group say they are determined to stop the development.

"We are going to fight and will grind away. It is a David and Goliath battle," said a spokesperson.

The three-day inquiry began on Tuesday.
