A dance music version of the song released by John Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, after his death has been tipped to be a huge hit.

The couple were working on the track - Walking on Thin Ice - the night Lennon was gunned down in New York in 1980.

She has now teamed up with the Pet Shop Boys for the "electroclash" remake of the track.

Ono will give the first performance of the song at a New York club in the early hours of Monday, a day before her 70th birthday.

It will be the second time Ono has released the track - the original version got to number 35 in the UK charts, two months after Lennon was murdered by Mark Chapman.

Now she has collaborated with Parlophone label-mates Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe for the underground dance-style track.

Monday's performance of the song will see her performing with renowned DJ Danny Tenaglia, who has remixed the track at New York's Arc club.

'Clothing optional'

Ono said: "I'm very excited that people love the record. I've been asked to come over to Britain and play in some electro clubs and I think I will do that.

"I'm playing the day before my 70th birthday. Even my son (Sean Lennon) thinks that's pretty good going for his mum."

On Tuesday Sean is throwing a birthday party for his mum and her closest friends.

The invitation states: "Clothing optional. Chanel No 5 optional. Bring your heart and high heels."
