| Friday, 14 February, 2003, 17:30 GMT Bus hit by concrete block ![]() Vandalism has put buses out of service Three passengers on a Nottingham City Transport bus have been injured after blocks of concrete where thrown at the vehicle. The incident happened between 1730 GMT and 1800 GMT on Thursday when the number 48 bus was travelling through Clifton. The injured people were taken to hospital but are not thought to be seriously hurt. Other passengers were forced to abandon the service, with many finishing their journey on foot. Interiors vandalised Operators of the service have indicated this is just the latest incident in an escalation of vandalism and violence over the last few weeks. Nicola Tidy, from Nottingham City Transport, said: "One missile was a great lump of concrete which hurt three passengers as it went through the vehicle and they had to be taken to hospital. "Another object went through an upper window but thankfully nobody was hurt by that. "Many of the vehicles have had their interiors vandalised and the new bendy buses that run on that route are currently out of service because of vandalism." | See also: 06 Feb 03 | England 27 Jan 03 | England 24 Dec 02 | UK Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
