It has taken three months to patch up HMS St Albans - the Navy's newest warship. Last November the P&O ferry, the Pride of Portsmouth, scraped its bow along the side of the frigate as she struggled against gale force winds in Portsmouth harbour. The warship had just been handed over to the Navy and was due to undergo sea trials when the accident happened. The collision caused damage to several parts of the deck, the gun deck, the sea boat supports and the bridge wing of the frigate. | See also: 27 Oct 02 | England 27 Oct 02 | UK 27 Jan 02 | UK Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
