Andrew and Christine Gale will be spending the whole of Valentine's Day on Friday in bed at their home in Addingham near Ilkley as a protest against war with Iraq. On Saturday, half a million people are expected to be in London for an anti-war rally Christine Gale told BBC Look North from her bed: "It's just a message we want to get across.
"We want peace and we want to sleep in peace." Andrew said: "Since many people can't get to the peace march in London we're staging a 24 hour lie-in as John Lennon and Yoko Ono did during the Vietnam war." The couple are calling on other couples to join them by having a lie-in in their own beds. John Lennon and Yoko Ono's protest lasted seven days and was held at the Amsterdam Hilton in 1969. | See also: 08 Feb 03 | England 08 Feb 03 | England 06 Feb 03 | England Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
