Gum-busters take to streets
Street cleaning
A clean-up is underway on Oswestry's streets
Special gum-busting teams are taking to the streets of Oswestry to clean up the pavements.

Oswestry Borough Council is bringing in steam cleaners to remove chewing gum from areas of the town centre.

The move coincides with an appeal to local residents to do their bit to improve the image of the town centre.

The steam cleaners will be operating in Albion Hill, Bailey Street and English Walls.

Borough Council senior technical officer Carl Hughes said: "All our bins have got labels on explaining that gum can be put in the bin.

"So we are asking the people of Oswestry to help keep out streets clean. It is a benefit to the environment."
