Oswestry Borough Council is bringing in steam cleaners to remove chewing gum from areas of the town centre. The move coincides with an appeal to local residents to do their bit to improve the image of the town centre. The steam cleaners will be operating in Albion Hill, Bailey Street and English Walls. Borough Council senior technical officer Carl Hughes said: "All our bins have got labels on explaining that gum can be put in the bin. "So we are asking the people of Oswestry to help keep out streets clean. It is a benefit to the environment." | See also: 02 Jan 03 | England 06 Dec 02 | England 30 Sep 02 | Breakfast Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
